Today, students are starting our first major unit project in Social Studies. We will divide the class into 7 groups. They will complete a research project on their assigned continent. Each student has a job and will be marked independently, but expected to work together to present the final project.

Continue checking this website for updates, due dates and reminders. 1st assignment is a self-title page due by Sept. 11th. Students are receiving class time to complete. Students will be presenting their final climate change project by June 3rd (at the latest).
We will then spend the final weeks of school completing our Cross Curricular Inquiry Project: Create Your Own Country. Students become the rulers of their very own country. Based off a theme they feel passionate about they will combine and apply all ELA and SS skills we have learned this year. This project combines all topics we've studied since September. Students will have a variety of activities, options, choices and presentation strategies for this unit. Final Country Projects will be presented in our own United Nations Conference on June 21. We have started our Climate Change unit.
Students will complete a variety of activities (reading articles, questions, gallery walks, creating timelines/advertisements and researching) before a final project. Final projects will be due May 29th. Students will have to create some idea to address the issue of climate change. Students have started their Final Project. It is due Thursday, April 18th. They are representing one of the Human Rights and teaching the class about it. You can have your student explain their right to you and let them practice presenting for you! Students will be learning all about Human Rights this next month.
We start with learning what they are, then look at how they are still being violated and what we can do about it! Quiz/Project due dates will be posted in advance, as always! Overpopulation Quiz Friday March 1
Students will receive Test Review Thursday. Students must be able to explain, give examples and problems caused by Overpopulation. Along with some possible solutions to Overpopulation. Next up--- Human Rights! New unit study on Overpopulation. Students will be working through multiple assignments and reading activities. Reminder to check the Parent Portal for grades as report cards are fast approaching!
